Bay Area Girls Rock Camp announce rock camp fundraiser

With a mission to empower girls through musicianship and community building, Bay Area Girls Rock Camp (BAGRC) is a nonprofit organization generating increasing interest and popularity through the Bay Area creative community. BAGRC's various programs foster self-confidence and teamwork amongst youth, gender-nonconforming, trans, and femme-identifying communities — catering to the interest of those looking to play music and foster community for a cause. Review & Photos: Songs For Moms at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records 1/4/12

Songs For Moms It is with great joy that I report to you from Oakland's 1-2-3-4 Go! Record Store. Truly the lil' record store that could. And in an unusual turn of events, someone threw a toothbrush onto the stage during Thao and Mirah's set. In lieu of laughing it off or tossing it aside, Thao [...]

The Bay Area Girls Rock Camp has grown significantly since starting out with just one week-long camp in the summer of 2008. The Oakland-based independent organization now boasts several summer camps, an after-school program, and a Ladies Rock Camp. After adding a Board of Directors, an Executive Director, and expanding the volunteer pool, the organization continues to grow and develop their mission, which is to empower girls through music. One way to support the efforts of the Bay Area Girls Rock Camp (besides donating and/or volunteering) is to attend the organization's 2nd Annual Art Auction, which takes place on February [...]
