Live This Month: November 2014 — an audio guide to upcoming SF concerts

http://media.libsyn.com/media/thebaybridged/LTM_November_2014.mp3 Download: Live This Month: November 2014 (Podcast #349) In Live This Month, we sample some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing in the coming month in the San Francisco Bay Area. It's finally starting to get colder in San Francisco, but there a ton of great shows to force you out of the house and into local music venues this month. We're big indie pop fans around these parts, and Toronto five-piece Alvvays released one of the year's best albums in the genre. The group's self-titled debut LP, out now on Polyvinyl, is jangly, hazy and catchy [...]

Battlehooch reveals new video for “Yeah, That”

Do you like kaleidoscopes? Modern Dancers? If that's the case, then San Francisco denizens Battlehooch want to take you on a psychotropic adventure with their newest video for "Yeah, That" off of their latest LP, Hot Lungs. The video, artfully crafted by Blake Boxer, offers delightfully trippy kaleidoscopic imagery featuring a gaggle of dancers moving their way throughout the video. Much like their music, the video combines psychedelia and modernity to create a well-crafted and stunning work of art. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Al6M_lsxTxY&feature=youtu.be And if that wasn't enough for you, the band is headlining a show at the Chapel in San Francisco on [...]

Ticket Giveaway: Battlehooch @ Slim's (watch video for "I'm Exploding")

San Francisco denizens Battlehooch have had an eventful 2013 so far, dropping their new record Hot Lungs back in February, getting featured in a USA Today article about Bandpage's Experiences feature (where they offered to donate six pints of blood and a post-donation, woozy live track in exchange for $300), and most recently participating in the Music Video Race. Though it may not involve a new LP, the loss of blood, or the haywire 48-hour production of a video with a complete stranger acting as director, this Saturday night will be pretty damn exciting nonetheless – the band is headlining [...]

Live This Month: October 2012 — an audio guide through SF concerts this month (Podcast #289) In Live This Month, we sample some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing in the coming month in the San Francisco Bay Area. Live music in the Bay Area in October means two big local music festivals in Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and Treasure Island, but smaller indoor temptations abound all month long. Chris Cohen has a resume full of involvement in great bands, including Deerhoof and Cryptacize, but his new solo album is an intimate work that ranks as one of this [...]

Battlehooch – "Someone to Remind You" b/w "Seraphim"

The boys in Battlehooch done and did it again. They've just released the third in their singles series, the very catchy-but-subdued "Someone to Remind You". The song features a warm accordion intro and plenty of clarinet flourishes, but ultimately it's the solid, funky bass line that's really hard to resist. B-side "Seraphim" is a dreamy number with some great vocal harmonies and lots of flute trills. Stream 'em both in all their glory right here, or you can even buy it for one measly buck (or more): Someone To Remind You/Seraphim (SINGLE 2012) by Battlehooch In case you missed the [...]
