Bart Davenport @ Chasing the Moon 07.25.10

[media id=37 width=530 height=300] Many of you already know how special a solo performance from Bart Davenport feels. When Bart told us he was bringing his band into the studio, we had no idea how lucky we were. Turns out - they’re amazing! Bart already has tons of style, and with the band, he steps it up so much more while still maintaining his intimate signature sound. Chasing the Moon releases new episodes about once a month. To be notified of future episodes you can subscribe to their podcast either through iTunes or with this feed. Produced By: Brian Berberich; [...]

New local show series: SanFolk Disco IV Thursday

We're pleased to report on yet another new regular show series making San Francisco a happening place, SanFolk Disco. They're holding their fourth event Thursday, with Bart Davenport, JL Stiles and Kacey Johansing at Cafe du Nord (8:30pm, $12). According to the organizers, SanFolk Disco's mission is: "[SanFolk Disco] aims to mix three interesting on-the-rise Bay Area artists every month at a different venue in the city. The music will be only slightly rooted in any particular genre and uses the term folk to mean more 'music of the people,' than man with sandals and a woolen hat, call it [...]

Podcast #200: A Brief Recap of the Past 199 Shows

[podcast][/podcast] Obviously the title's more than a bit facetious, but we did want to do something a little special to celebrate the 200th episode of our weekly Bay Bridged podcast. For this week's show, we each picked four artists featured on past podcasts (one for each year of the show) and discussed some memorable behind-the-scenes highlights, including tales of excessive drinking, awkward conversation, and equipment failures. On a serious note, we'd like to thank all of the listeners who've made doing the show so rewarding. Thank you also for indulging us in this silly look back at the last four [...]

Mission Creek Holds Court at McLaren Park

Mission Creek held a major free concert in McLaren Park on Saturday featuring over a dozen great bands and a bunch of good times. For me, the event was equal parts great local music and sales pitch for the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater, which I hadn't known existed prior to the show. I was admittedly skeptical as I got off my second bus of the day, bringing the travel time to the fest to a round hour-and-a-half, and adding a "This better be worth it" feeling to the experience, but I wandered down a hill to the emerge upon the backside [...]

Mission Creek: Free show this Saturday in McLaren Park

Bart Davenport - "Jon Jon" There's a lot of great stuff happening as part of this year's Mission Creek Music Festival, but few can compete with the FREE show happening this Saturday, July 18th, from 11am-8pm at the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater in McLaren Park (40 John F Shelley Drive at Mansell Street). There's a staggeringly-good lineup of bands, and the MCMF folks promise "DJs, local indie vendors, designers, fashion, and a variety of food carts" as well. Rubies - "Stand in a Line" The lineup of bands includes: Dead Meadow Kelley Stoltz Persephone's Bees Rubies Bart [...]

Weekend Picks: 5/21-24

Friday May 22: Bart Davenport, Kelley Stoltz, Hot Lunch, Big Eagle @ Cafe du Nord When friends play shows together, the unusual happens -- take this show as an example. Kelley Stoltz's frontman Sean Coleman contributed to Bart Davenport's Palaces, freshly out on Antenna Farm Records (Oakland), which can only mean some live accompaniment is in place for Friday's show (9:30pm, $12). Bart Davenport - Jon Jon The bill has its variety, though. While Bart and Kelley Stoltz both dive into the serene side of indie rock, Hot Lunch unabashedly delivers rock wielded from elements such as 70s [...]

Bart Davenport: Palaces vinyl release party, tour dates

One of my favorite 2008 CDs, Bart Davenport's Palaces, is now seeing a limited edition vinyl release on Antenna Farm Records. The LP, now available at Antenna Farm's site, is 140 gram vinyl, and includes a coupon for a full album MP3 download and a bonus track. Bart Davenport - "Jon Jon" Bart is celebrating the release with a show tonight at The Knockout where he'll be joined by Vows, The Mike Therieau Band, and DJs Neil Martinson and Seante. 9pm, $5, 21+. In other news, Mr. Davenport was the subject of a recent Daytrotter session and will [...]
