bAd bAd releases LP, plays the Eagle tonight

Christian Zamora started bAd bAd a few years ago as a bedroom recording project, (and one that we've loved from the start). Despite the fact that Zamora's left the Bay Area to manage a bar in St. Kitt's for the past six months, bAd bAd managed to record their first LP as a full band that has just been released via SS Records. To celebrate, Zamora is taking a Thanksgiving vacation on the (American) West Coast to share the album in its live form and sling some vinyl along the way. bAd bAd originally dubbed their sound as "Turkish surf [...]

bAd bAd’s last show is Tuesday at the Knockout

Sadly, yet another promising San Francisco band is about to be no more due to a member leaving town. With frontman Christian Zamora leaving town to manage a few bars in the Caribbean (seriously!), bAd bAd will be on a semi-permanent hiatus. Christian tells me that even though the band is on indefinite hiatus, there are still plans to release a 12" LP this spring. Additionally, in preparation for their last show, they've shared a pair of live videos for their tracks "Rope Burn" and "Conundrum". Recorded at The Grassy Null studios in Oakland, they're the first two of a [...]

bAd bAd drops some videos; shows forthcoming

In support of their most recent release, Waterboredom, bAd bAd has released a pair of videos for your enjoyment. Earlier this summer, they dropped a stop-motion animation romp for "Dump", directed and shot by bAd bAd guitarist Michael Zamora in Boston. Among other things, it features shredded paper vomit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYr_IPsgP2Q For the quasi-instrumental "Untitled", found footage visuals of desert and western scenes make the connection to a spaghetti western sound they eveke at times. With every release, the band continues to add layers and complexity to their original "Turkish surf mariachi". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcsLoXbgUI4&feature=youtu.be The aforementioned Waterboredom is available on cassette from [...]

One of my favorite young San Francisco bands, bAd bAd, has impressed me with every release with their toe-tapping, hip-shaking garage sound. Their latest, "gUn gOld", is no exception: Waterboredom by bAd bAd "gUn gOld" is the first track from bAd bAd's forthcoming cassette, Waterboredom, which will be out May 16 on Grabbing Clouds Records and can be pre-ordered now. You can catch bAd bAd live a few times over the next month, highlighted by their cassette release party at The Knockout May 19. Best of the Rest – February 2015 (Six Organs of Admittance, bAd bAd, Panic Is Perfect, & more)

Ben Chasny of Six Organs of Admittance (Photo Credit: Drag City) Every month, our editors hear lots of great new music, at shows around the Bay, exploring the far reaches of the Interwebs, and sifting through the veritable deluge of emails from artists and publicists around the globe hawking the latest songs and videos. While we’d love to write about everything that catches our ear, it’s impossible – there’s just too much good music out there. This is an attempt at rounding up the latest and greatest that we didn't have the bandwidth to cover throughout the month – the [...]

Premiere: Listen to bAd bAd’s “¿Dónde Está Santa’s Claws?” from our Holiday Compilation; donate now to support Bay Area music

The Bay Bridged’s first ever fundraiser is still going strong, as we seek your support so that we can continue to provide a critical platform for local musicians through our award-winning blog and acclaimed local music festivals, and continue our mission to support the Bay Area independent music scene. As part of that fundraiser, we gathered 12 covers and original holiday songs from local musicians and released our 2014 Holiday Compilation, available to everyone that donates during the month of December. Following last week's premiere of Cocktails’ rockin' and rollin' track "Tis The Season", we're happy to share another song [...]

Live This Month: December 2014 — an audio guide to upcoming SF concerts

http://media.libsyn.com/media/thebaybridged/LTM_December_2014.mp3 Download: Live This Month: December 2014 (Podcast #351) In Live This Month, we sample some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing in the coming month in the San Francisco Bay Area. December traditionally feels like something of a subdued month for live music, what with all of the holiday parties and holiday travel that consume so much of the month for so many of us. This year, however, there are plenty of bands hitting the road for December shows in SF. Heck, New Year's Eve alone is a veritable bonanza for indie music fans. In this mix, [...]
