Alela Diane headlines at home @ Rickshaw 10/27

Tuesday night saw a co-headlining bill at The Rickshaw Stop featuring Alela Diane and Marissa Nadler, who are currently on a US tour. When Diane came on it was as if she were playing to a living room of close friends -- her banter possessed genuine and humble tones, as she chuckled at requests for songs she wasn't sure if she remembered. Another tradition Diane can't seem to shy away from is inviting her father to play her homecoming shows. Mid-week folk shows: Alela Diane, Sean Hayes

Two big shows for lovers of folk singer-songwriters this week, with contenders from both genders: Alela Diane with Marissa Nadler Tuesday at the Rickshaw Stop (8pm, $12), and next Sean Hayes at the Independent Wednesday with Kilbossa (8pm, $16). Diane currently claims residency in both Northern California (Nevada City) and Portland, but has hardly been able to call either home in the last year of extensive touring.
