Freelance Writers: Hip-Hop, Bluegrass, Metal, World Music

General Overview:

Founded in 2006, the San Francisco-based 501(c)3 nonprofit project The Bay Bridged has become recognized nationwide as the leading source for San Francisco Bay Area independent music through our award-winning music blog and podcast series, as well as a series of acclaimed music festival events.

Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking to add writers who have a deep knowledge of music scenes outside of the usual garage-band makeup: hip-hop, bluegrass, metal, world music, etc.

In addition to staff writers, we also accept pitches from contributors — one-time ideas with none of the commitment we usually ask of our staffers. You write us a piece, we post it, we pay you. Positions are paid on a contract basis.

As is true for staff writers, we’re especially interested in pieces that cover genres outside the usual garage-rock box: hip-hop, bluegrass, metal, world music, etc. So long as it relates to new music in the Bay Area, we’re all ears.

If you have an idea for a feature story that you think would work for us, please send a detailed pitch to jobs@thebaybridged.com.
