Photos: Filthy Friends at Swedish American Hall

Filthy Friends (photo: Ian Young) They call themselves Filthy Friends, but they could just as well call themselves Filthy Supergroup of Supershredding Indie Guitar Rock Friends. Featuring Sleater-Kinney's Corin Tucker, R.E.M.'s Peter Buck and band members from Minus 5 and King Crimson, Filthy Friends crammed a whole host of six-strings on the small Swedish stage for an evening of rollicking riffs and protest songs. The band's second album, Emerald Valley, is out now on Kill Rock Stars.

LÉON (photo: Ian Young) Lotta Lindgren, better known by her stage name LÉON, made herself at home Friday night at August Hall by transforming the stage into a cozy living room complete with house plants, oriental rugs, and lamps. But this was no quiet night at home: LÉON had the sold out crowd dancing through her entire set of energetic and catchy pop tunes. New York singer Morgan Saint opened the evening.
