Photos + Review: The Used at SF Masonic

The Used (photo: Estefany Gonzalez) Celebrating the release of the band's seventh studio album The Canyon after holding a special acoustic performance at Amoeba Music in Berkeley that reached the record stores capacity,  The Used performed for a packed room at SF Masonic on October 27. It's been more than 15 years since the band's debut self-titled album, yet the band's brutal honesty and fearlessness for writing about difficult moments are still present after all these years. Starting out by writing about harsh topics such as self-harm, depression, and addiction there is no topic the band is afraid to touch. A notable moment in [...]

Behind The Scenes: The Wrecks + Vesperteen at Bottom Of The Hill

It feels like just yesterday we introduced TBB readers to the Wrecks. Though it’s only been a few months since the band opened for All Time Low at the Fox Theater in Oakland, they’ve managed to come a long way in a rather short span of time. Upgrading from opening act to headliners, The Wrecks kicked off a tour with Vesperteen and The Technicolors at Bottom of The Hill on October 24. We caught up with both The Wrecks and Colin Rigsby of Vesperteen before the show for laughs, pictures, and a few San Fransisco adventures too. But before you click [...]

L.A. Witch (photo: Estefany Gonzalez) After dropping a debut album and touring Europe,  L.A. Witch returned to the Bay Area for a headline concert at The Chapel with San Francisco band Bear Call. The night was full of good vibes, cool music, and a killer light show. Click through our slideshow for a photo recap of the night.

Photos: Paramore at Paramount Theatre

Paramore (photo: Estefany Gonzalez) Remember 2007, when teen angst was a thing and the Vans Warped Tour was full of kids with sharp bangs? Paramore singer Hayley Williams does, and so did the audience who cheered in remembrance of those times as the singer introduced "Misery Business" at Paramore's sold out concert at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland. The track off Paramore's Riot! album was one of the many amazing songs that hurdled the band into regular radio rotation. It's been a long while since those days, but the band still seems to remember them fondly, even if the singer noted she's [...]

Behind The Scenes: City Of Trees Festival in Sacramento

Dreamcar (photo: Estefany Gonzalez) The Bay Area is a stomping ground for killer festivals, concerts, and pop-up shows, so naturally, few festivals are worth a commute to attend. Yet, I decided City Of Trees in Sacramento was one of the few festivals worth leaving the Bay for, and do I regret it? Nope — not in the slightest. The festival is one of the most affordable one-day shindigs out there. With tickets kicking off at only $49, you're essentially paying the price of one concert ticket, for a whole day worth of amazing musical acts. This year's line-up included Bleachers, Blink-182, [...]

Photos: Muse at Shoreline Amphitheatre

Muse (photo: Estefany Gonzalez) English rock band Muse has come a long way since the release of the trio's first album Showbiz, yet nothing screams show business quite like the light show Muse brought to the Shoreline Amphitheatre during the group's 2017 fall tour. Whether you were in the front row or the back row of the band's sold out concert, there were no bad seats in the arena. Lazer lights, giant inflatable balloons full of confetti and moving background projectors that look like something out of a time machine from the future, were just a few of the notable props which [...]

Photos: Flock Of Dimes and Sylvan Esso at the Fox Theater

Flock of Dimes (photo: Estefany Gonzalez) You might recognize songwriter Jenn Wasner from projects such as Wye Oak,  an indie rock duo that composes wonderfully complex tunes with just two musicians. Yet, Wasner's solo project Flock of Dimes continues the minimalist approach to music and sees her performing a number of different instruments on stage at the same time. We caught up with Wasner on her current tour with Sylvan Esso for some portraits and closer look at her live performance. Click through our slide show for photos of  Flock of Dimes and Sylvan Esso at Oakland's Fox Theater. [...]

Photos: Portugal. The Man at Hearst Greek Theatre

Portugal. The Man (photo: Estefany Gonzalez) Back in May, Portugal. The Man headlined a sold-out show at The Independent. The concert was close-knit and intimate but was only was a prelude to what would be one of the biggest parties at Berkeley's legendary outdoor coliseum— aka the Hearst Greek Theatre. Though both performances were great in their own right and the band offered a two concert package for fans who wanted to attend both shows, the concert at the Greek Theatre wasn't one to miss. This time around, Los Angeles band Local Natives joined the lineup and had the crowd hyped before [...]

Photos: Dashboard Confessional at The Masonic

Dashboard Confessional (photo: Estefany Gonzalez) In case you missed it, emo legends Dashboard Confessional played at SF Masonic with The All-American Rejects on June 14. The night was full of nostalgic songs, sing alongs and of course heartfelt tear-jerkers from the band's extensive song catalog. Click through the photo slideshow for some concert highlights.

Review + Photos: All Time Low at Fox Theater

All Time Low (photo: Estefany Gonzalez) All Time Low's Young Renegades Tour brought a mix of new talent, hometown heroes and of course a plethora of catchy indie tunes to the Fox Theater in Oakland on July 8th.  The line-up included The Wrecks, Waterparks and the Bay Area's own SWMRS. The tour follows All Time low's Fueled By Ramen debut and the release of their newest album, Last Young Renegade. The band played a variety of new songs such as "Dirty Laundry," the first single and "Drugs & Candy," a track the singer Alex Gaskarth told the crowd was one of his favorites [...]
