It’s been a while since the Fast Times boys could do their thing. What started as a monthly series, spearheaded by San Francisco songwriter Andrew St. James, evolved into a supergroup including Duncan Nielsen and Cody Rhodes.
But just as they were getting going, the pandemic threw a wrench in their plans. Thankfully, they’ve adapted: They’re back and, dare we say, better than ever.
On top of debuting their first single, they’ve rescheduled the release show, which was supposed to go on at Rickshaw Stop in March, for online. Even better, they’re using it to raise money for the venue, and also for nonprofit Hip Hop For Change, which brings music education to kids and communities. And there’s more on the way — they’ll be rolling out more livestreams, each featuring a new song and video, for the next three months.
Tune in to Rickshaw Stop’s Instagram on Wednesday, July 15 at 7pm to watch the set (you’ll also get appearances from a Rickshaw Stop bartender, the founder of Hip Hop for Change, and other musical guests). It’s not quite the same has being stuffed into the Fell St. venue with your friends from the local scene, but it’s still pretty up close and personal.
