New Zealand dream pop darlings Yumi Zouma will make their way to the Rickshaw Stop on March 24. The group has teased the forthcoming release of Truth or Consequences with the successive releases of three tracks: “Right Track / Wrong Man,” “Cool for a Second,” and “Southwark.” The long-awaited album will be Yumi Zouma’s third, and the first with their new record label, Polyvinyl Records.

Personally, I’ve already played “Cool for a Second” at least a hundred or so times since it was released in late January and dubbed it my anthem for 2020. The airy synth-pop tones blend seamlessly with the whispy vocals of lead Christie Simpson, creating an evocative and charming track. The tune is matched to an equally enchanting music video, directed by Australian filmmaker Nick Mckk, that tells a story of a mother and her withdrawn young son.

Truth or Consequences will be out March 13. Pre-order a copy here.
