I know some people who start their Halloween plans on November 1 of the previous year, so it’s very likely that, if you’re one of those folks, you already have your tickets to any of the various tribute shows happening around the Bay this week and next.
But maybe you’re like me, and you’re kind of a Halloween Grinch — you like the idea of it, and you certainly like being all, “Oh, look at that, I simply must go to Safeway today” the day after so you can buy a bunch of discount candy, but you find Netflix and Hulu’s scary-movie offerings middling and regular TV’s even worse, and really hate feeling pressured to spend a bunch of money on a costume you will only wear once. So if you’re like me, you likely don’t already have a plan in place. If you need a last-minute festive thing to do, might we suggest Sound Jose and the San Jose Come Up’s The Spooky Show.
Not only can you expect performances from Kiva Uhuru, Kieda Bordeaux., Swells and the Lünatics, and Mild Monk, there will be vendors! And donuts! And no admission fee or age restrictions! The poster doesn’t say if costumes are encouraged or not, but with a name like “The Spooky Show,” I have to imagine they’re at least allowed.
