Calling all early birds — this weekend only at Amnesia in San Francisco, breakfast will be served all day. But don’t expect a slice of cantaloupe and toast; instead, bring your appetite for live music — that’s food for the soul.

Balanced BreakFEST, an offshoot of meetup group Balanced Breakfast, is a 4-day music festival at Amnesia in San Francisco that begins this Thursday 9/19. The lineup features local Bay Area musicians alongside artists from Balanced Breakfast chapters from around the country.

What began as a small gathering of San Francisco musicians over coffee and pastries has become a multi-city network, with members getting together weekly to share insights about booking, recording, promotion, and more. Founded by Stefan Aronsen and Andy Freeman in San Francisco, Balanced Breakfast is now also in Oakland, San Jose, Santa Cruz, Sacramento, Santa Rosa, Los Angeles, San Diego, Nashville, Denver, Austin, Boston, Portland, Seattle, and it’s still expanding.

“Breakfast was a good way to bring industry professionals together to talk about better ways to market and promote themselves. When we started it, I didn’t know it would also be a great way to connect the music industry, give musicians a new found focus, and help them find friends, housemates, bandmates and ultimately jobs,” says Aronsen.

Now in its second year, this festival is a shining example of music community in the Bay Area and beyond- people working together and supporting each other, all in the name of music. Set times and more details here.
