Salami Rose Joe Louis signing to Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint has been one of the most exciting Bay Area musical success stories of 2019. Since she started performing under the multi-syllabic moniker, Lindsay Olsen has operated at a distinctive place at the intersection of lo-fi beatmaking and interstellar jazz.
In many ways, this all makes perfect sense: Flying Lotus is an obvious contemporary in their shared musical space. But Olsen truly marches to the beat of her own MPC, which makes it all the more exciting to see music so idiosyncratic and full of color reach a national audience on Brainfeeder.
They say good things come in threes, and this news is no different. We have 1. A double-single drop, “Octagonal Room” and “Cumulous Potion (For the Clouds to Sing)” 2. a new stop-motion music video for “Octagonal Room” by auteur and abandonware enthusiast Japhy Riddle, and 3. the announcement of Zdenka 2080, a full-length sci-fi concept album, out August 30.
Pre-order/pre-save/pre-add Zdenka 2080 here.
