DC post-punk band Priests are returning to Starline Social Club on the heels of their second album, The Seduction of Kansas (out now on Sister Polygon). Following 2017’s Nothing Feels Natural with a more pop-centric, socially concious record, the title track and first single sets the tone for Priests’ latest LP.

Vocalist Katie Alice Greer, guitarist G.L. Jaguar, and drummer Daniele Daniele still form the helm of the band, while The Seduction of Kansas marks the departure of Taylor Mulitz, welcoming multi-instrumentalist and frequent collaborator Janel Leppin. It’s also Priests’ first time working with producer John Congleton.

Following the subsequent release of album singles “Good Time Charlie” and “Jesus’ Son,” Priests recently issued an Amazon Original cover of Danzig’s “Mother.” The studio recording of the cover, a frequent live staple for the band, enlists multi-instrumentalist Don Godwin and bassist Alexandra Tyson.

Sons Of An Illustrious Father (featuring Lilah Larson, Ezra Miller, and Josh Aubin) and Ziemba will support Priests’ Oakland show at Starline Social Club on June 29. Based on Priests’ impressive performance at Swedish American Hall two years ago and their strong return in 2019, their current live tour should not disappoint. Following a European tour back in May, Priests’ current North American run will continue through July 10.
