Lucy Dacus has just announced tour dates for 2019 and we’re pleased as pie. The pure-voiced folk singer has also just released a single, “My Mother and I,” and it’s a nice taste off her new album titled 2019.
The collection is a combination of original Dacus songs and originally reimagined covers. Each track is tied in some way to a holiday, which is an interesting album theme and one we’re diggin’ on. “My Mother and I,” for example, is connected to Mother’s Day with raw honesty, bashing away cliches. The track starts out, “My mother hates her body / We share the same outline / She swears that she loves mine.” Check out her lovely song and maybe you can catch her this October when she’s back in San Francisco.
