We’re happy to announce Y La Bamba is playing a special (free!) show at the Bandcamp record store in Oakland on May 13.
Their fifth record, Mujeres, was released in February and it’s a beautiful collection of sounds, feelings, rhythms, movements, languages, and beats beats beats. Title track “Mujeres” is layered with room-warming, powerful Latin percussion coming in from all sides. The harmonious vocal blending is empowering and reminds us what this album is really about. Fronted by powerhouse Luz Elena Mendoza, the Latinx indie-folk group continues to explore the experience of the Mexican-American woman. It’s a bold narrative brought to you by a bold presence and beautiful voice.
Come see and pick up their record! Show at 6, signing at 6:30. (They’re also playing the New Parish the day before.)
