No need to look up at the sky tonight for the new single by the Y Axes, because “Moon” is already up.
Following the heels of “How We Begin,” “Moon” is the second single from the San Francisco-based space-pop band’s upcoming album, No Waves, set to release on June 6.
Vocalist Alexi Belchere describes a handful of songs in the new album as following a similar theme of self-doubt and fear of the unknown, while “Moon” stands out to embrace those fears.
“In the song I say ‘I can see there’s nothing wrong with my heart / Just atrophied and maybe falling apart / But I heard this one echo through my head / It’s the same song rearranged from what you said.’ I’m saying to my inner dialogue that I’ve basically had it with this repetitive cycle of anxiety. I’m ready to be alone or be annihilated, and either way I’m not turning away.”
On the same day of the release of No Waves, The Y Axes will have a show to celebrate at the Rickshaw Stop with The Band Ice Cream opening.
The Y Axes can additionally be seen at various upcoming shows in the Bay Area before the June album release show. They will be playing at Quarter Note in Sunnyvale on March 15 and will be opening for Klez at Bottom of the Hill on March 16.
