Twiddle, the latest uplifting swell of soulful flow from relentlessly gigging jam bands, return to the San Francisco Bay Area next week. The quartet make their headlining debut at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco on Thursday, March 7.

“Playing the Fillmore is a dream come true,” keyboardist Ryan Dempsey said during a phone interview. “Starting out as a band from a small town in Vermont, it blows my mind to play there and to be a part of that history. We’re going to put on a great show and we’ve been practicing for something very special when we get there.”

Along with Dempsey, lead vocalist and guitarist Mihali Savoulidis, drummer Brook Jordan and bassist Zdenek Gubb make up Twiddle. Together they have earned a firm grasp in the hearts of many West Coast Deadheads — namely, Bob Weir and Phil Lesh.

In great thanks to their budding friendships blooming across the Bay, Dempsey and Savoulidis have led the charge for Twiddle. Whether on tour with Midnight North or through large on-stage collaborations, the band’s reception out West remains overwhelmingly positive.

The East/West divide that is the Rocky Mountains may lead some folk to the surprising conclusion that Twiddle has quite the clout back east as well. That small-town Dempsey mentioned? Burlington, Vermont, also happens to be the hometown of one Bernie Sanders.

Sanders even had the distinction of introducing the band ahead of their headlining slot at the third incarnation of their very own festival, Tumble Down. Sanders used the opportunity to laud the progressiveness of the young generation. Check it out:

Opening Thursday’s show at the Fillmore will be Iya Terra. They have a distinct mellow reggae groove that cuts through the filters and flips a calming switch. Having recently spent a few weeks on tour with Rebelution, it would be worth arriving early to catch a band on the rise. And we can help you do that — we have tickets to give away to next week’s show. Enter to win.

To enter for a chance to win tickets to Twiddle at the Fillmore, email with “Twiddle” in the subject line and your full name in the body of the email. Winners will be selected at random no later than 24 hours before the listed show and notified via email.
