One Billion Rising will bring The Vagina Monologues to Sonoma County this Valentine’s Day, for an empowering, informative night. The goal of One Billion Rising is to end violence against women (cisgender, transgender, and those who hold fluid identities that are subject to gender-based violence) on a massive, worldwide scale.

The celebrated play, The Vagina Monologues, written by Eve Ensler, takes the audience on a journey through several interviews with women of differing backgrounds and sexual experiences. The play not only examines sexuality in its many forms, but sheds light on social stigmas associated with sexual violence. In creating a dialogue around the struggle many victims of sexual abuse and rape face, the play has become a vehicle for enacting widespread awareness and change for women’s rights. The performance begins at 7:30pm and will be conducted in English, ASL, and Spanish.

Free childcare will be provided during the show, and 90% of all funds raised will support Verity, Sonoma County’s Rape Crisis, Trauma, & Healing Center, with 10% of proceeds supporting V-Day’s Spotlight campaign on incarcerated or detained women.
