Catch Dragon Smoke’s return to San Francisco tonight at The Independent.
Dragon Smoke returns to headline The Independent tonight, Friday, November 30, 2018. Locally based space-funk band El Metate and DJ Kevvy Kev open the show.
Dragon Smoke is the high-class, high-energy band born of the late-night magic that is NOLA Jazz Fest’s SuperJam. Because each of the members have several different projects between them, the band does not play together often. Made up of Ivan Neville (Dumpstaphunk), Robert Mercurio and Stanton Moore (Galactic) with Eric Lindell, they typically limit their appearances to NOLA or SF.
Each of the group’s members has reached success in funk in their own right. Dragon Smoke is an opportunity to catch the masters playing around, experimenting and grooving in ways their other projects can’t contain. Just like the name implies, this is an act that is as fleeting as smoke. Catch the wisps while you can — they will not last!
The show is again being presented by the city’s own NOLA affiliate, the Boom Boom Room. The Boom Boom Room has strong ties to JazzFest, including an ongoing partnership in promoting some of recent year’s most memorable late night parties.
Don’t sleep on the funkiest option in the city tonight — tickets are still available.
