San Francisco-based singer/songwriter Nicki Bluhm (of the Gramblers) will perform a special evening of music (without the Gramblers), headlining the Terrapin Crossroads Grate Room tonight, Friday, November 30, in San Rafael.
Nicki Bluhm recently wrapped up a three week November tour with Gill Landry, formerly of the Old Crow Medicine Show. After spiraling out of North Carolina, through the Midwest, down the East Coast, through Texas and coming to in NOLA, Bluhm is ready for more.
Bluhm has been touring behind the release of her latest solo effort, To Rise You Gotta Fall out on Compass Records. She recently debuted a brand new video for her song “It’s OK Not to be OK” as well. The song opens with a flurry before settling into familiarity with backbeat under loose guitar punctuations. Her voice cuts through, and reassuringly so. Take three and a half minutes for yourself and give it a listen:
Santa Cruz-based mountain ramblers the Coffis Brothers will be supporting Bluhm throughout the evening. The band also has a pair of hometown dates approaching, on December 7 with the Carolyn Sills Combo at Michael’s on Main and December 14 with Taylor Rae at Humble Sea Brewing Co, as well as a show at the Great American Music Hall on December 15. They will be opening the second of two evenings for the Mother Hips’ annual holiday show.
