Rupa and the April Fishes brought their political stories and songs to Yoshi’s Wednesday night. Flowing between powerful meaning, sad stories, and get-up-and-dance grooves, Rupa and the April Fishes brought entertainment, intrigue, and intellect to the night.

A great live band, Rupa and the April Fishes offered introductions to songs, which ranged from the shocking and sad story of rubber bullets being fired daily at grandparents at Standing Rock to the frustration of being priced out of SF housing to the newfound joy of finding a new home in the East Bay — thanks to a lot of thoughtfulness and an appreciation of the arts.
