John Oates and the Good Road Band brought their tour, promoting their February released album, Arkansas, to Mill Valley last week at the Sweetwater Music Hall.
With special guests joining John Oates and his merry men on stage, the night was set up for a rock and roll, rhythm and blues, country, and folking good time. Jason Crosby joined fairly early on to dazzle with the fiddle for a few tunes, before Bob Weir graced the stage with his guitar-jamming Dead vibes.
The crowd were enthusiastic and grooving through the night as the music played out by the ultimate feel-good musicians. Add in a little guitar wail solo by Guthrie Trapp, some sweet, subtle pedal-steel excellence from Russ Pahl, and a couple of ’80s gems like “Maneater” and “I Can’t Go For That” along the way, and the show was set for success.
