COAL + ICE is a documentary photography exhibition co-curated by Magnum photographer Susan Meiselas and renowned exhibition designer Jeroen de Vries. For the month of September, COAL + ICE held its U.S. premiere inside the Festival Pavilion at San Francisco’s Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture, which coincided with Governor Jerry Brown’s Global Climate Action Summit.
The past few weeks included dance, spoken word, food, family activities and much more to create a dialogue about climate change. But it’s not over yet. Tonight there will be an evening of storytelling, improv, and standup with local comedians.
On Friday, there will be a youth slam poetry session where they’ll be performing their award-winning pieces and Saturday, they’ll be wrapping up the series with a storytelling night on the Californian fires with KQED.
COAL + ICE has partnered with various Art and Environmental partners and includes a pop-up cafe with the award-winning San Francisco vegetarian institution Greens Restaurant who will be offering up a seasonal and local menu.
The exhibition is open until this Sunday, with the exception of Thursday, September 20.
