Next Wednesday will see the kickoff of a new monthly residence at El Rio called TIDES. With a sharp focus on women of color, non-binary, and LGBTQ musicians in the Bay, TIDES aims to shift the spotlight onto more marginalized members of our local music community that are making epic art.

On deck for the very first edition of TIDES is established SF dreamy-pop project Future Twin, a set from rising psych-pop artist Suzanimal, and a new video from Cava Menzies. On the visual end of the spectrum will be local artists Deb Leal and L. Herrada-Rios. TIDES will also host a “mini-market” of craft goods and art from local makers, and each installation will be presented in partnership with an organization focused on women’s rights — causes that often spill over into POC, transgender, and LGBTQ communities as well. El Rio has historically been a Bernal Heights haven for San Francisco’s LGBT family, so this new installation of performance and art, on a monthly basis, from a diverse array of folks makes perfect sense.

TIDES will takeplace on the last Wednesdays of every month from here on out. Watch this space for info on September and beyond.
