The Velvet Teen‘s musical output has been somewhat sporadic over the last few years, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been busy. The Petaluma veterans dropped their first single since 2015’s All Is Illusory last Friday via BrooklynVegan.
Entitled “Parallel Universes,” the track draws heavily on the band’s pop side, allowing Judah Nagler’s ethereal voice float upon a sea of synthesizers. Despite the restrained tempo, drummer Casey Deitz frantically ramps up the tension on the song’s final minute, pushing it through like a marathon runner crashing through the finish line. The video, directed by Brady Baltezore, is pretty fun to watch too. Check it out below.
