As one-third of the standout Oakland trio hearkening back to the Town’s conscious hip-hop heyday, an introspective Azure isn’t all that unfamiliar but the exploration of self and sound shows throughout “Godspeed”‘s 10 tracks. Tapping inwardly (and into a collective of his fellow music buds including Drew Banga, P-Lo, JR Jarris, Iamsu!, Mike Gao), Azure has hella questions — but isn’t that what modern life in the Bay Area is like, anyway?
