Sometimes it feels like time doesn’t really touch the Outer Sunset. The Avenues — a big block of criss-crossing residential streets on the west side of San Francisco — feel like their own world, where it’s always a little colder, a little quieter, and you can kind of hear the ocean.
The Sunset is also home to Avi Vinocur, the San Francisco representative of bi-coastal Americana band Goodnight, Texas. Nothing feels more Summer-in-the-Sunset than the band’s new video for “Takin’ Your Word For It” (which is weird, because it was directed by Vinocur’s New Jersey-based bandmate, Patrick Dyer Wolf). Watch as the band spends a strange, slow day scooting around the Avenues with a star-studded cast of Bay Area musicians — see if you can spot them all. Answers are upside-down in smaller print at the bottom of this post.*
Goodnight, Texas released their latest full-length, Conductor, in April. You can take the rare opportunity to see them all in the same room at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley on July 15.
*They’re not, sorry.
