BottleRock Napa Valley
Now through Sunday, an endless parade of independent and major-label music stars head through Napa Valley: Bruno Mars, E-40, Bomba Estero, Alex Lahey, and Mt. Joy, to name a very few. A healthy amount of them are playing venue sets around the Bay while they’re in town, too, so if you can’t make it all the way to Napa you might have another chance. — Jody Amable

Diet Cig @ The Crepe Place
Get your Memorial Day weekend started right by taking a road trip to Santa Cruz for Diet Cig. The Crepe Place is tiny and Diet Cig an energetic band, so get ready to pound some water and possibly share sweat with your neighbor. — Jody Amable

Turbonegro, Against Me!, A Giant Dog @ The UC Theatre
I can’t speak much to the headliners, but Against Me! is one of those drop-everything bands for me — no matter your musical tastes, you can’t go to an Against Me! show without feeling like you can conquer the world by the end. A Giant Dog was also one of my favorites of 2016, and a breathless burst of energy to see live. — Jody Amable

Bruno Major @ The Ritz
After making his San Francisco debut during this year’s Noise Pop, the London-based songwriter hits the South Bay. — Jody Amable

Fever Ray @ The Fox
Step into the strange world of the Swedish alt-dance star. — Jody Amable

Angelica Rockne @ Bottom of the Hill
Angelica Rockne’s from up in Gold Country, but she frequently collaborates with a bunch of locals. Catch her and her classic cosmic country at Bottom of the Hill. — Jody Amable

Silk Mother, Li Xi @ Eli’s Mile High
Your one-stop shop fot local psych-tinged art-pop. — Jody Amable

War Cloud, Crypt Trip, Cloud Catcher, Serpents of Dawn @ Thee Parkside
A solid lineup of heavy bands (with, coincidentally, a lot of weather imagery in their names) invade Thee Parkside. — Jody Amable

Sunday ,May 27

Hockey Dad @ Cafe du Nord
The Australian duo Hockey Dad will be playing at San Francisco’s Cafe du Nord. They will be joined by Philadelphia’s Cold Fronts and Oakland’s Small Crush at the San Francisco show. — Dariush Azmoudeh

Carla Dal Forno @ Neck of the Woods
The dark melodies of Londonvia-Melbourne’s Carla Dal Forno will set the mood in the Outer Richmond. — Jody Amable

Jo Passed @ Starline Social Club
Unpredictable but always trippy as hell, the British Columbian band will, I have no doubt, rip Starline to shreds. — Jody Amable
