Concerts for a good cause are always worth attending! Bay Area Solidarity Summer (BASS) is a local organization that hosts a five-day political action camp for progressive South Asian youth who want to create social change. To support the youth who are interested, BASS is hosting a benefit concert this Friday, May 11 at Eli’s Mile High Club in Oakland.

Below is the concert lineup:

Wisechild (simarpreet singh) combines analog sounds with digital technology. The wisechild sound is a meeting place of an elegant, cinematic, nostalgic sound and a laid back california summer album.”

Kohinoorgasm is the experimental pop music project of queer, mixed race artist Josephine Shetty. Shetty uses minimal dance beats and softly sung vocals as a gentle way to move her anxious mind through an overwhelming world. She has performed at SXSW, universities, museums, and music venues across the US and Europe. Josephine is based in Los Angeles.”

Pallavi aka Fijiana is a singer, rapper, poet born in Fiji Islands raised in Richmond, CA.”

Ruby Mountain is an Oakland–based vocalist and songwriter who creates love vibrations and ascension with live looping, synth and eclectic beat making.”

Now in its 8th year, BASS has been home to many youth members who have learned valuable lessons from the camp. According to their website, alumni have said, “BASS gave me a community of South Asian activists who are dedicated to creating a space of mentorship, community knowledge, and love.”
