On Saturday, May 5, the high energy soul-funk stylings of the Bay Area’s own Con Brio will be headlining The Fillmore.

Con Brio translates to “With spirit,” a musical direction used in concert performances. Said energy is evident every second they are on the stage.

Currently, the band is in the beginning of a tour that will jet them across the country and into Europe. Con Brio will release their second full-length album Explorer, out July 6. Eventually they will return to California in September.

Following their 2016 debut record Paradise, Con Brio has earned a reputation for their live performances. Performing sold out shows around the country supporting acts like Galactic and the Revivalists has certainly illuminated Con Brio as well. They have received high spirited praise at every show with no sign of slowing down.

Frontman Ziek McCarter told Billboard:

Paradise was inspired by the death of my father…This one is a really intentional diving into the love and liberation aspect that I took from that event and every other event that transpired. The idea is ‘What can we create to inspire us to face life head-on?’ (Paradise) was raw. We owned that it was our first album. For this one it was more intentional to add more of a contemporary, modern aesthetic. More of a refined vocal production and more layerings of sonics and synthesizers.”

In addition to the main event on Saturday will be SF’s swinging-soul act Royal Jelly Jive and the Dirty Revival from Portland, OR. Don’t sleep on one of the funkiest Saturday night options in town.
