So LP (short for Laura Pergolizzi) is a badass, just to re-establish a well-known fact. It’s cool when you see an artist walk on stage with a confident and soft smile on their face, one that only comes from the knowledge they are about to crush it. I guess that’s to be expected when one sells out The Independent two nights in a row and rightfully so — the New York-based singer/songwriter voice is the musical equivalent of getting your back scratched. Both soothing and chill inducing.
She was all love and good vibes for San Francisco on Saturday night, the first of her two-night stint. The packed venue floor erupted as the band played the opening to “Strange”, off her 2017 album Lost On You and just before stepping up to the mic, LP flashed that smile one more time. Check out the photos by Estefany Gonzalez below and if you missed LP this time around, do yourself a favor and scope this live performance of “Tokyo Sunrise,” the center piece of her 18 song set. When you start getting goosebumps, then you’ll have at least an idea of what it was like at the Independent on Saturday night.
