This is a new venue in downtown Berkeley, sized only slightly smaller than the Independent. Great location, pretty good sound, and a rowdy acoustic bluegrass-ish band promise a fun New Year’s Eve. More info & tickets.

Lucero is a family-like band of country rock and roll that’s still got the same lineup they had when they started out, knowing almost nothing about playing music in the late 1990s. Playing 250 shows a year quickly made them one of the tightest bands in the genre. NYE is the culmination of a three-night residency. Local songwriter Travis Hayes opens. More info & tickets.
If you’re looking for jam-band fun combined with bluegrass energy in the North Bay, this is your jam. Hot Buttered Rum is a homegrown San Francisco band that has played thousands of shows in the past decade, cultivating not only a loyal following but the ability to move musically as if the band is all a single organism.
