If you haven’t yet discovered PianoFight … you’re welcome. This small, artist operated venue in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District (right in the Tenderloin) is one of the best things to happen to the Bay Area’s indie arts community in years. Their Fourth Annual New Year’s Eve Super Bash will explode with all the energy of the ravenous scene they feed so well.
Just inside the door of PianoFight you’ll find a bar with full kitchen (serving affordable and delicious bar fare), a live music stage, two theaters, and a cabaret stage. Here local artists are featured seven days a week, from happy hour to closing time most nights, including live music, comedy, drag, and theatrical performances (As if that were not enough, Piano Fight also is home base during the day to the offices and classrooms of community non-profits like Tenderloin Walking Tours and Code Tenderloin, and often to the weekly gatherings of music industry meet up Balanced Breakfast).
On New Year’s Eve all of that, plus confetti cannons and champagne toasts, will converge. The venue’s in-house 10-piece soul and funk band, the Californicorns, will be keeping it loud and funky all night with their tribute to the best and worst of music from 2017. On the cabaret stage there will be DJs throughout the night, while over on the main stage you can get your “Drag-aoke” on, hosted by Cruzin d’Loo, with drag performers from Ain’t Mama’s Drag and karaoke from the crowd. A chill lounge will be set up on the second stage, with a second bar, tables, and projection mapping.
If you’ve been looking for a home in the music, drag, theatre, comedy or improv communities, or if you just want to rub elbows with the movers and shakers in town, this is where you want to begin 2018. Early bird tickets are sold out, but you can still get general admission and VIP tickets here. Dress to impress.
