Sometimes the best music is right under your nose, and you don’t even know it. Out in the unassuming Sunset District of San Francisco, K Skelton brings us “Leather Jacket,” a twangy gem written within mournful country conventions.
This isn’t Skelton’s first rodeo — he came to San Francisco in 2010, and has quietly released a handful of items over the last few years and worked with other local musicians, too. Produced with a little help from our old friend Kelley Stoltz, the tender “Leather Jacket” is a departure from his usual psych-influenced sounds. Stick around for a surprise horn section.
I’m pretty happy I’m leaving 2017 having heard this song. As he reminds us in this track, he’s been here this whole time.
