Laurel Halo is touring the United States with a set of live hardware performances in support of her latest album Dust, released on Hyperdub earlier this year. Experimental Housewife, Taraval, and Chelley Sherman will support Laurel Halo at San Francisco’s Gray Area on Friday, December 1, 2017.
The Berlin-based, Michigan-born artist signed with Hyperdub for her full-length debut Quarantine in 2012, following the release of two EPs with Hippos In Tanks. Dust is the latest release from the experimental electronic artist, with Laurel Halo exploring deep sonic layers and off-kilter time signatures to tell her stories. The album, written and produced by Laurel Halo, includes an intriguing mixture of spacey instrumental jams, guest appearances and lyric-driven vocal pieces such as “Jelly” (stream below), “Syzygy” and “Do U Ever Happen,” the latter of which features Julia Holter on cello.
San Francisco-based house and techno producer Taraval has a set EPs out on Four Tet’s TEXT Records, and will support the show along with Experimental Housewife (a.k.a. producer E.M. Malinowski) and local visual artist Chelley Sherman. Tickets for the 21+ event are available here.
