The Bummer’s Ball is a fundraising event hosted by Rocket Dog, an all-volunteer, non-profit dog rescue group. Steve Earle and Emmylou Harris performed on either side of an auction, raising money to help homeless and neglected dogs. There were psychics and numerology readers, Palomacy Pigeon Rescue was there, and scattered between the guests were circus performers contorting on tables. Willy Tea Taylor from the Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit played a sweet solo set and a surprise performance from Bob Weir ended the night.

Shovelman opened, giving weird, wild, Western-style, loop-rocking support at the Bummer’s Ball held at the San Francisco Armory. Having made a customized guitar from a shovel, Shovelman loops beats, strums, and finger-picking creations, resulting in a sound unique and intense. Shovelman is the soundtrack for vast open roads, the lone traveler and the western frontier. He’ll be at The Great Star Theater on Oct 20 & 29 performing in Kat Robichaud’s Misfit Cabaret Presents: Horror Show.
