Even though Julia Lewis has been permeating from Bay Area speakers for the better part of these last few years — think Rexx Life Raj’s “Handheld GPS” and a handful of songs from Caleborate’s 1993 — his next goal is to become a household name on his own right, following in the footsteps of several Bay Area behind-the-boards producers turned center-stage artists (P-Lo and Iamsu, to ring a bell).

Today, he releases “On the Regular,” the first from a packet of forthcoming releases with Elujay, the 21-year-old Oakland rapper whose last project Jentrify made waves and caught the attention of Fader, Noisey, and Hot New Hip Hop. “On the Regular” is bouncy, upbeat and soulful, all made from the collaborative efforts with fellow Bay Area natives, Mr. Carmack and Mikos da Gawd. According to Julia Lewis, Elujay came into the foray, heard the track and had a melody down right on the spot.

To have Julia Lewis and Elujay partner up is another marker of the turn of the Bay Area music wave. Keep your eyes peeled to see what else the duo has hidden up their sleeves.
