Yea-Ming and the Rumours have a brand new 7 inch out this month and you need it! Side A is “Baby Blue,” and no, it is not a Dylan cover. It is pure, classic Yea-Ming: full of love and tears, dreamy vocals, smart lyrics and delicious instrumentation. Side B, “From Autumn” is about not going back, and while she is speaking for herself, we might all take a minute to think about the things drawing us backwards and decide if indeed it is time to make a change.
Yea-Ming was in the seminal band Dreamdate with Anna Hillburg. These days Dreamdate only play once or twice a year, but thankfully Yea-Ming and Anna continue to play solo with their own new projects and often together still (Anna plays bass on both of these new tracks). The Rumours also includes Sonia Hayden on drums and Eoin Galvin (of the amazing Hoxton Mob) on lap steel! Matt Bullimore of Legs/Mantles infamy recorded the tunes and provided some vocals and guitar.
Catch Yea-Ming and the Rumours this Saturday August 12 at The Hemlock with Oilies and Real Numbers. There is also a tremendous Oakland show Friday, September 22 at the Octopus Literary Salon with China plus David & Joanna.
