Turtlenecked, Harrison Smith, already has a Stereogum premiere under his belt, and a blistering, self recorded alt rock album, Pure Plush Bone Cage. He just put out an album, Vulture, on June 16 through Good Cheer Records.
He has a voice that ranges from sardonic punk to heavy rock, and he is making his way from his home base of Portland to play a couple shows in the Bay Area. In early July, he plays The Hole in Oakland and Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco.
Turtlenecked also currently has a track out that will be on the new album. “Pangloss” is an upgrade from his early lo-fi days, and if the album sounds anything like this one, we will see Turtlenecked continue to grow as an artist.
