The Bay Area’s favorite surf-pop rock quartet Hot Flash Heat Wave are preparing for some big things in 2017 and are kicking the summer off with the release of their sophomore LP, Soaked.
Recorded at Tiny Telephone and seeing release on OIM Records, an independent and East Bay born hub for locally sourced and produced music, Hot Flash Heat Wave have been keeping their project and themselves extremely local — save for a brief number of dates priming the East Coast last month.
Although the record was made available to purchase at the beginning of the month, an all-ages album release party has been announced for Monday, June 19 at Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco, followed by a show in San Diego and three nights in Texas at the end of the month. Originally from Davis, CA, the SF-based foursome of Adam, Ted, Nathaniel, and Nick bring a diverse palate of dreamy yet precise tones and instrumentation together over a sweeping range of emotional compositions without missing a beat of catchiness and on Soaked they only expand on the groundwork they’ve laid over the last two years.
Joining Hot Flash Heat Wave on the bill will be The Buttertones and Inner Wave, two SoCal bands surfing north to celebrate the album’s release.
