San Francisco’s Latitude has been performing around the Bay and slowly releasing singles for several years now, but they’re finally releasing their debut full-length, L’atitude on June 2 via Royal Oakie records. And guess what? We’re lucky enough to give you the first taste of the album with a great new track, “Say What You Mean”.
Latitude frontwoman and primary songwriter Amy Fowler says “Say What You Mean” was a naturally easy songwriting experience, describing it as “one of those tunes that downloaded to my head straight from the Mothership, just after waking while still in a dream state.” The song is dominated by a sharp guitar riff that Fowler’s vocals dance with during the verses before bringing in layers upon layers of jangly guitars, synths, and acoustic strumming that naturally meld an array of influences from the 80’s. Plus, everything about the track exudes a cool confidence that makes the apostrophe in the album title entirely appropriate. Listen:
L’atitude is available on cassette or digitally via Royal Oakie, or at Latitude’s release show June 1 at the Make-out Room. After the June 1 show, they’ll also be heading down the coast for a mini tour of Southern California.
