Some of our favorite local pop-rockers, Cocktails, have laid pretty low since the release of their second full-length, Hypochondriac, but not for much longer. Tonight, Cocktails opens for NE-HI at the Rickshaw before heading across the pond for a tour of Europe in May. As it turns out, one of the bookers for a recent Apache/BT’s European tour is perhaps a huge Cocktails fan who actually saw them perform at SXSW(!) several years ago. Through the Apache folks, he got in touch with Cocktails and set up 13 shows in 14 nights for them. If you’re on holiday and want to see some hometown kids play rock and roll, (or you’re reading from Europe), check the dates below.
As an added bonus, their new buds at Alien Snatch Records out of Berlin are pressing of copies of Hypochondriac for the tour, and the band hopes to have a few copies available back home as well. (It’s currently available on cassette and digitally via the wonderful Father/Daughter). By the way, did you miss Hypochondriac when it came out? Well, if you did, you sure missed a damn fine pile of hooks and should correct that mistake now. If you didn’t, now’s a good time to listen again:
