In Live This Month, we sample some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing in the coming month in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Purely by coincidence, Big Sur bookends this month’s mix, which kicks off with a wonderful new song from Earth Girl Helen Brown, who is taking part in a great festival to support the Big Sur Storm Relief Fund over at The Chapel this month. The mix concludes with Porcelain Raft‘s “Big Sur,” a song from his new album Microclimate, a title that will surely have special resonance for Bay Area residents.
In between those two great songs, we’ve also included a couple of new tracks from Australian artists (Gabriella Cohen and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard), a few from music veterans who continue to put out stellar work (Tara Jane O’Neil and Chuck Prophet), and a whole lot more, including a killer song from Gainesville’s UV-TV, the trio pictured above.
Rounding out our local inclusions in this mix are Froogy’s Groovies, a new one from The Band Ice Cream, and some dark electronic rock from the new Bay Area band Houses of Heaven.
