Rickshaw Stop hosted a special night of rock and roll, country twang, and Leonard Cohen choir music on February 5.

The night started out with The Liners taking the stage. Lead singer Carmen King leads this San Francisco-based foursome with hard driving beats, guitar heavy and blues inspired original songs. Next up was Society Of Rockets, who performed tracks from their newly-released album, Family Ways

Lastly, Conspiracy Of Beards was on. This roughly 30-man, mostly a cappella choir has been dedicated to the deconstruction and skillful re-assembly of exclusively Leonard Cohen songs. They’ve been doing this for 14 years and are now planning a European tour starting in Berlin with help from their just-announced GoFundMe campaign.

Their performance at Rickshaw Stop included two guitar solos by Peter Whitehead, plus a mix of well-known and less-known Cohen songs such as “Anthem,” “Hallelujah,” “Everybody Knows,” “So Long, Marianne,” “Bird on the Wire,” and “Come Healing.”
