One of the most popular bands in San Francisco’s rock and roll scene is the four-piece Heron Oblivion. One of the most popular small venues in the city comes with the tongue-in-cheek decor of The Chapel and the quality events it holds. On Friday, January 27, these two forces will combine, and The Bay Bridged wants to give away a pair of tickets to a lucky reader. All you need to do is follow the instructions below.

Heron Oblivion has had a fortuitous origin, in large part almost acting like a who’s-who supergroup of both obscure and successful musicians from San Francisco’s dark rock scene. Their first show was opening for The War On Drugs in April 2014 and they had a deal with Sub Pop by 2015. They continued to work with Kurt Vile on his recent West Coast tour, and they opened all three nights on Dinosaur Jr.‘s takeover of The Independent in September.

The avant-garde chorus of noise known as Heron Oblivion consists of former Comets on Fire guitarist Noel Von Harmonson and bassist Ethan Miller, as well as second guitarist Charlie Saufley (Assemble Head In Sunburst Sound) and drummer/vocalist Meg Baird (Espers). The band combines elements of haunting medieval choral selections over Explosions In The Sky-esque layers of sound and nuanced fervor all over the steady metronome of Baird’s bass kick.

To enter for a chance to win tickets to see Heron Oblivion at The Chapel on January 27, email contest@thebaybridged.com with “Heron Oblivion” in the subject line and your full name in the body of the email. A winner will be selected at random and notified via email.
