In Live This Month, we sample some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing in the coming month in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Touring tends to slow down as winter approaches, but don’t mistake that for a shortage of great local concerts. There are plenty of excellent bands performing in SF this month, including a sizable number of Bay Area acts celebrating new albums with shows close to home. In this mix alone, we’ve included new music from locals Trails and Ways, Great Apes, The Y Axes, The New Up, Eyes on the Shore, and Nopes. From garage punk to synth pop, you’ve got your pick of local offerings to soundtrack your Thanksgiving.
While we often showcase a lot of newer and younger bands in these mixes, this month’s picks are dominated by veteran acts. The terrific NYC songwriter Jeffrey Lewis last released his seventh LP; Mike Polizze’s ever-evolving Purling Hiss is on album number six. And while The Mystery Lights might currently be touring in support of their debut LP, the band’s core duo have been performing together for almost fifteen years. In fact, Vanishing Life may be the newest group included here, but it’s comprised of punk rock lifers from Gorilla Biscuits, Bad Religion, Rise Against, and And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead.
Founded in 2006, The Bay Bridged is a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization utilizing new media and presenting live events to support the San Francisco Bay Area’s indie rock, folk, and pop music communities.
