On Friday December 9 and Saturday December 10, Oakland’s Oracle Arena will transform from the home of champion basketball teams and pit stop of acts such as the late and great Prince into a slice of vintage Warped Tour.

The two-night trip down memory lane is this year’s Not So Silent Night, and is painfully reminiscent of the Pop Disaster Tour of 2002. The current trend of the revitalization of pop-punk will come to a head as SoCal phenoms blink-182 team up with the grandaddy pop-punks, the Bay Area’s own Green Day as hosts. Blink-182 leads off, headlining on Friday, while Green Day will close the hometown event on Sunday.

General sale tickets are available now. Fans will be expected to shell out in service fees (nearly $20 or one quarter the ticket price for single day lower bowl tickets) but who can really put a price on this level of nostalgia?

Warming the stage for blink-182 is a star-studded cast that includes Canadian group The Strumbellas, LA-based Capital Cities, Glass Animals, coming off a less-than-typical weekend at Treasure Island, Jimmy Eat World (who played the reception at former blink-182 guitarist Tom DeLonge’s wedding) and Australian duo Empire Of The Sun.

Saturday’s lineup is fleshed out by Stanford graduate K. Flay, Catfish and The Bottleman from Wales, Phantogram, The Head And The Heart, British pop band Bastille and the larger-than-life antics of the Berkeley trio Green Day.

The event is all ages and set to begin each day at 6pm.
