With an album on the horizon, London vocalist Sampha is back in the Bay Area this weekend, where he will be performing before two sold-out audiences inside the Swedish American Hall on October 29 and 30.

So far, there’s been no official release date for his upcoming full-length, Process, but Sampha (born Sampha Sisay) began to roll out new music in May with “Timmy’s Prayer.” Last month, he dropped an official video for “Blood on Me,” a surreal portrait of paranoia echoed by the song’s frightened chorus, a continued refrain of “I swear the smell the blood on me / I hear them coming for me.”

Since releasing his debut EP, Dual, in 2013, he’s continued to fly under the radar stateside, but the British producer and songwriter has become a secret weapon for several artists in the mainstream. If you aren’t familiar with his music, you may still know his instantly-recognizable voice thanks to Drake, who sampled Sampha’s “Too Much” for his song of the same name. More recently, his credits have included appearances alongside Kanye West (“Saint Pablo”) and Solange (“Don’t Touch My Hair”).

Brooklyn-based musician Kelsey Lu will open for Sampha on both nights.
