Yesterday, the 2016 Treasure Island Music Festival announced the set times for this weekend’s festivities (reprinted above). The set-times-reveal is often the most stressful part of planning to attend a music festival, as a previously-enticing list of performing acts gets winnowed down by conflicting sets on stages far apart from each other.
Not so at Treasure Island! The complete absence of overlapping set times between stages means that there are no hard decisions to make. If you’re wearing comfortable shoes and strategically time your restroom visits, you can see every minute of every band on the poster.
Moreover, each day’s lineup is packed full of highlights that encourage an early arrival and a late departure. Do you really want to miss the early sets from currently-blowing-up locals Kamaiyah and Day Wave? Is it really worth it to linger at brunch and miss Honne and Wild Nothing? Get to the island early: it has food, booze, and music (life’s three staples).
While Stormzy and, more recently, Kelela have announced that they aren’t able to partake in this year’s TIMF festivities, fest organizers have added two accomplished locals to Saturday’s bill: SF electronic musician The Polish Ambassador and Dirtybird co-founder/DJ Worthy. Check out the former’s recent album Dreaming of an Old Tomorrow and a recent hour-long mix from the latter below.
